[시편 2편]
1. 어찌하여 이방 나라들이 분노하며 민족들이 헛된 일을 꾸미는가 2. 세상의 군왕들이 나서며 관원들이 서로 꾀하여 여호와와 그의 기름 부음 받은 자를 대적하며 3.우리가 그들의 맨 것을 끊고 그의 결박을 벗어 버리자 하는도다 4.하늘에 계신 이가 웃으심이여 주께서 그들을 비웃으시리로다 5.그 때에 분을 발하며 진노하사 그들을 놀라게 하여 이르시기를 6.내가 나의 왕을 내 거룩한 산 시온에 세웠다 하시리로다 7.내가 여호와의 명령을 전하노라 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 너는 내 아들이라 오늘 내가 너를 낳았도다 8.내게 구하라 내가 이방 나라를 네 유업으로 주리니 네 소유가 땅 끝까지 이르리로다 9.네가 철장으로 그들을 깨뜨림이여 질그릇 같이 부수리라 하시도다 10.그런즉 군왕들아 너희는 지혜를 얻으며 세상의 재판관들아 너희는 교훈을 받을지어다 11.여호와를 경외함으로 섬기고 떨며 즐거워할지어다 12.그의 아들에게 입맞추라 그렇지 아니하면 진노하심으로 너희가 길에서 망하리니 그의 진노가 급하심이라 여호와께 피하는 모든 사람은 다 복이 있도다
“다윗은 그의 나라가 비록 현재는 강력한 원수들에게 무수한 공격을 받고 있지만, 그래도 하나님의 손길과 능력의 지배 아래 있으므로 그 나라가 영속적일 것이라는 점을 자랑하고 있다. 그리고 그는 원수들이 있음에도 불구하고, 그 나라가 이 지상의 가장 구석진 곳까지 확장될 것이라는 점을 덧붙이고 있다. 그러므로 그는 왕들과 다른 통치자들에게 자신들의 교만을 제쳐 놓고 겸허한 마음으로 하나님께서 그들에게 부과한 멍에를 받아들일 것을 권면하고 있다. 왜냐하면 그들이 그것을 벗어 던지려고 발버둥 쳐도 허사일 것이기 때문이다. 이 모든 것은 상징적인 것으로서 거기에는 장차 올 그리스도의 왕국에 대한 예언이 담겨있다.”
“그러므로 그리스도의 권위에 스스로 굴복하지 않는 자들을 모두 하나님을 상대로 전쟁을 벌이고 있다는 점을 철칙으로 여기도록 하자.”
“요약해서 말하자면, 우리가 그리스도 안에서 하나님을 섬기지 않을 경우 우리는 하나님의 영예를 탈취하는 셈이다.”
“그리스도를 멸시하는 자들의 교만이 처벌을 받지 않은 채 그냥 지나치지 않을 경고이다.”
“불신자들 위에 어른거리고 있는 무시무시한 심판에 대해서 이야기한 다음에 여기서는 하나님의 신실하고 독실한 종들에게 그의 은혜의 포근한 면을 제시해 주면서 좋은 소망을 품을 것을 권면하고 있다.”

[Psalm 2]
1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, 6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” 7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. 8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” 10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
“David boasts that his kingdom, though assailed by a vast multitude of powerful enemies, would, notwithstanding, be perpetual, because it was upheld by the hand and power of God. He adds, that in spite of his enemies, it would be extended even to the uttermost ends of the earth. And, therefore, he exhorts kings and other rulers to lay aside their pride, and receive, with submissive minds, the yoke laid upon them by God; as it would be vain for them to attempt to shake it off. All this was typical and contains a prophecy concerning the future kingdom of Christ.”
“Let this, therefore, be held as a settled point, that all who do not submit themselves to the authority of Christ make war against God.”
“The sum is, that God is defrauded of his honor if he is slot served in Christ.”
“What follows immediately after is a warning to those who despise Christ, that their pride shall not go unpunished.”
“Having, therefore discoursed concerning the terrible judgment which hangs over the unbelieving, he now encourages God’s faithful and devout servants to entertain good hope, by setting forth the sweetness of his grace.”
